Growing up I was always into art. At the age of 7 I became very interested in drawing different things that I would see, whether that was cartoons, people or nature. As I got older, I wanted to be an artist, but lack of knowledge about the art industry and if art was a big thing in South Carolina lead me down a different path. I gave up art for years but it never completely went away.

It wasn't until 2024 where I completely dived back into art and learned about creating art with textiles and yarn. My interest grew even more. Fast forward to today, I was told that I more than likely wouldn't be able to conceive children at the age of 35 and my world flipped upside down leading me to intertwining my anger and love into my art. That's when "Gia Moriya" was born. I felt as though if I couldn't conceive a child, that I would make this my baby and treat it as such. My art depicts many things that I and others go through in life and is meant to encourage, motivate and inspire myself and others to persevere through life no matter what life throws at you. After all, it could very well be all an illusion.

The name Gia Moriya means "gift of God", "Chosen by God".
